Bridge Collaborative Founders to Assess Progress on Gulf Ecosystem Restoration.

A new grant from the Gulf Research Program of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine will fund a project to assess progress on ecosystem restoration in the Gulf of Mexico following the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill. Hear from two Bridge Collaborative Secretariat members, Lydia Olander and Heather Tallis, about their plans to work with experts and stakeholders to develop a common framework and set of indicators that unifies comprehensive reporting across sectors.

Bridge Collaborative Launch Event

At our fall 2017 global launch event, we gathered together with more than 150 researchers, practitioners and stakeholders from around the world for two days of inspiring dialogue on the value and power of collaboration across health, development and the environment. During this event, we formally launched the Bridge Collaborative and released two foundational reports. We also hosted the Bridge Spark Awards and announced our inaugural cohort of Bridge Spark Champions.

Advisory Council member Nitin Desai represented the Bridge Collaborative at the United Nations (UN) Global Compact meeting “Making Global Goals Local Business—India.” His presentation, “Health is Everyone’s Business,” highlighted the challenge of air pollution in Delhi.This two-day event brought together over 300 local and global leaders from business, civil society, finance, Government and the UN to focus on opportunities to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Roundtable: From Shared Principles to Collective Impact

In a convening adjacent to the 2017 World Bank and International Monetary Fund spring meetings, we hosted a leadership roundtable in Washington, DC, to discuss opportunities and challenges to break down silos among the health, development and environment communities.

Workshop: Finalizing a Prototype

During this interactive workshop, we met to finalize the content for the first version of our Practitioner’s Guide on cross-sector action planning and evidence evaluation—which we will apply, learn from and refine over time. We also presented our initial findings at the first in-person gathering of our Advisory Council.

Workshop: Full Collaborative Meeting

At our first full collaborative meeting, more than 100 of our members gathered together at Duke University. During this workshop, we established working groups to co-design principles and guidance for cross-sector action planning and evidence evaluation.
